Sypnoides Hampson, 1913

Sypna mandarina Leech, 1900: 545, by subsequent designation by Warren (1913, February 20th): 333

= Sypnoides was made available by Hampson, 1913 [January 30th], in a key to genera, but it was not until the next volume (Hampson, 1913 [November 19th], 1913, vol. 13: 248) that Hampson gave the full generic description, included three species [Sypna equatorialis Holland, Sypna mandarina Leech, Sypna pannosa Moore), and designated S. pannosa as type species. In between the publication of Hampson’s volumes 12 and 13, Warren used Sypnoides for a single species (S. mandarina) and designated it as type species. Sypnoides was nomenclaturally available, but without included species until Warren, 1913 February 20th, in Seitz: 335 (Nye 1975).
