This species is very similar to <i>T. infida</i> (Walker [1858], 1857) (treated as synonym of <i>T. palliatrix</i> by Kononenko & Pinratana 2013). The type locality of <i>T. infida</i>, was mentioned as Hindostan (Guenée 1852)) and this could be the reason of reporting of <i>T. palliatrix</i> from India. However, Watabiki & Yoshimatsu (2014) revived the status of <i>T. infida</i> and confirmed its type locality as Burma [Myanmar] and restricted <i>T. infida</i> distribution to Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines and Australia. Further, they also restricted the distribution of <i>T. palliatrix</i> to Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. The report from Arunachal Pradesh by Sondhi et al. (2021) is probably a misidentification and represents another indian species i.e. Targalla sugii Holloway, 1985. The report of <i>T. palliatrix</i> from India is doubtful and needs further confirmation.
