Remarks

A recent revision of the genus Rhagastis was conducted by Jiang et al. (2024). Based on differences in wing morphology, genitalia features, and DNA barcode results, R. aurifera has been elevated to the status of a full species, having long been considered a subspecies of R. castor. Currently, the distribution of R. castor is restricted to Malaysia (Borneo) and Indonesia (Sumatra, Java), whereas R. aurifera is widely distributed from the Indian Himalayas to Indochina (Jiang et al. 2024).
